For the first time, the Indian Women’s Football Team—which consists of the India U17, India U20, and Senior Women’s football teams—was selected in all three categories for the 2025 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifying tournament. Indian Women’s Football Team: India U17

The final qualifying match for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2026 was played last week in Bishkek, where the India U17 women’s squad defeated the Kyrgyz Republic (2-1) and Uzbekistan (2-1) in a historic victory. The Indian Arrows Women Juniors project brought in the majority of the players of India U17 from the Indian Women’s League 2 (IWL2).

Latest Match of The India U17:

Last week’s AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2026 qualifying match took place in Bishkek and featured matches against the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan. The India U17 women’s team won both games by a score of 2-1.

Head Coach:

Joakim Alexandersson serves as the head coach of the India U17 women’s and India U20 women’s football teams. He also serves as an interim head coach of the Indian women’s national football team.

After almost 20 years, the India U20 Women’s squad has advanced to the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026 in Myanmar. They competed in August at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar, against Indonesia (0-0), Turkmenistan (7-0), and their hosts, Myanmar (0-0), to qualify for Group D. In 2006, India earned a spot in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup.

The India U20 Women’s team will meet Kazakhstan U19 in two international friendly matches, according to an announcement made by AIFF on 21 October 2025. India U20 and Kazakhstan U19 will get ready for the forthcoming AFC Women’s U20 Asian Cup Thailand 2026 and UEFA Women’s Championship Qualifier, respectively, with this two-nation friendly match.

Senior Women’s Football Team

The Senior Women’s Team’s most recent game was in Thailand, and they have qualified for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers.

In Shillong, the Senior Women’s Team is currently participating in the Tri-Nation Women’s International Friendlies. Their matches against Iran (October 21) and Nepal (October 27) both start at 18:00 IST. FIFA+ will broadcast Gama live.

Crispin Chettri was the head coach of the Indian Women’s League team Odisha and the Senior Women’s football squad.

According to Crispin Chettri, head coach of the senior women’s squad, the Indian Arrows’ involvement in the IWL2 helped to develop the players of the India U17 women’s team. They performed admirably against some timely and talented squads. To include some talented players from junior teams, like as the India U17 and India U20 women, in the senior squad for the forthcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers. He is searching for them. Playing against the top team is always beneficial, he added. Since some U20 players are already on the senior squad, they might be able to try out a few U17s at this level and gauge their performance.

Finally, after a long twenty years of waiting, India’s three women’s football teams (U17, U20, and Senior) have made a historic first by making it to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup journey to China, Thailand, and Australia 2026.
